Lots of hats in early Australia

Have you seen the latest Nicole Kidman Movie “Australia”?  I have only seen the trailer and it holds a great deal of promise of being a very hatty movie!

Essentially British aristocrat goes to Australia (wearing beautiful hats). After that it appears to become sort of a Quigley Down Under with a whole variety of Australian Outback Hats. I’ll probably catch the movie on DVD later when I don’t have to view the long movie in one sitting. Personally I do not like sitting in the movie theatre for long movies. I do enjoy looking at historical themed movies though.

Some reviewers do not have a very favourable impression of the movie. There is too much of it for one thing. Too much of an epic. Perhaps it would play better as a three part series on PBS? The costuming appears to be first rate if one can go by the trailers . Nicole Kidman talks a good British accent as an expatriate British aristocrat. The award of worst British accent by the way goes to Dick Van Dyke in “Mary Poppins”. Check it out I am sure you will agree!

Here is a really unfavorable review by  Lou Lumenick of the New York Post. According to him the movie is the cinematic equivalent of an all you can eat buffet.
