This is another in the series of Wacky Hatty Inventions. – The magnetized hat band – patent 459,942, brought to you by Fred H. Brown September 22, 1891
The idea here is to insert a magnetized hat band in side the hat next to the head. You may ask why?
“the nature of the invention is a pliable metallic strip or band made of carbonized steel quite thin to adapt it to be bent into semi circular or curved form, and provided with slots or openings to increase its pliability and enable it to be fitted to the heads of different shapes and sizes, said metallic band being magnetized with reversed poles at its ends for therapeutic purposes”.
I could not ascertain what it is supposed to have been therapeutic for. However, I wonder if it worked? The magazines of the day were full of “miracle”cures of all sorts. You can”t make those types of claims today. Interesting gadget?
