This is another of my finds in the Toronto Antique Market. I went there after the Saint Paddy’s Day Parade yesterday. This is a wonderful picture. I think the woman is the Mother based on her fine clothes. The period is toward the end of the Edwardian Period – actually the George V period I believe around the time of the Titanic tragedy or a few years after (around 1912). There was no date on the picture which was put in a postcard format popular at that time (you sent copies to friends and relatives). Well it was before the Internet. It’s a shame that much of the stuff we are doing today will be lost as it is so ephemeral. Ah well. Enjoy this I love the turned up brim style on the straw hat. I would love to get one like it – it is very elegant.
